Cartomancy necklace

$55.00

Everything on my website is HAND MADE, in-house (unless otherwise notated), so please ALLOW 4-6 WEEKS  for delivery of your order.

Unisex style for all! 30 inch (76 cm) black filagree chain with black stainless steel, acid-etched tarot card pendant. It’s ALL BLACK- the chain, the pendant and the lobster claw hook. The mirror-like finish is absolutely dazzling!

The total length is 34 inches (86 cm).

Shown is The Star tarot card. If you have a specific card preference, ask and I will do my best to accommodate you. If you have no attachment to a specific card, I will choose one from the 72-card deck.

The chain is very similar to an antique Victorian silver chain my grandmother brought back from Rome to Glasgow, and gave to my mother.

*Cartomancy is fortune-telling or divination using a deck of cards. Forms of cartomancy appeared soon after playing cards were first introduced to Europe from Italy in the 14th century.

” The earliest references to tarot all date to the 1440s and 1450s and fall within the quadrilateral defined by the northern cities of Venice, Milan, Florence, and Urbino. The present-day association of tarot with fortune-telling and the occult gained currency only in the 19th century and has nothing to do with the medieval tarot cards.”
